What does it mean?
0 dBFS is the full-scale reference for ordinary digital output. Internal floating-point values can exceed 1 without automatically clipping, but a later stage may impose a limit.
ExampleA peak of −6 dBFS leaves about 6 dB of headroom below full scale.
