App guide

Start playing with Rigs

Choose your instrument, connect an interface, and prepare a clean input.

Rigs brings Guitar, Bass, and Acoustic together. Choose an instrument at the start of a session; the instrument node before Input opens that selection again. The theme and amp, cabinet, or body choices follow the instrument.

Prepare the audio path

  1. Connect the instrument to a suitable interface input. A passive guitar usually uses an instrument or Hi-Z input.
  2. Open Audio and MIDI, then choose the input device, instrument channel, and output device.
  3. Play the hardest attack you expect to use. Reduce interface gain if the input clips.
  4. Listen without drive first, then adjust Trim so the level driving the rig is appropriate.
  5. Choose a preset and play again at a comfortable monitoring volume.

The interface's Direct Monitor carries the original sound without passing through Rigs. Check it if clean audio is mixed with the effects. If the interface disconnects, select the device you actually intend to use again; the instrument input is not automatically replaced by the laptop microphone.

Changing instruments

Changing instruments stops the backing and session looper. Prepare the change between performances. Check the instrument's settings and preset selection before continuing.

Read about interface gain and Trim or continue to Input and Output.
