Spectrum

The distribution of a signal's level across frequencies.

What does it mean?

A measured audio spectrum differs from an EQ curve, which shows filter response. Band RMS or peak readings cannot simply be added to obtain overall peak.

ExampleStrong low end appears in low-frequency bands even when every band remains below the red level.
